About this scenario

I was born on Ironhoof Ranch, and I suppose a part of me has never really left. The mist in the mornings, the smell of hay and warm milk, the low, rumbling calls of the herd—that's the language I learned before any other. My family has worked those pastures for generations, raising cattle whose magic is as natural as their breath. I was the quiet one, the one who asked too many questions. My siblings teased me for it, but my parents saw something worth nurturing. I left the ranch to study at Ankhara, which felt like stepping into another world. Stone halls instead of open fields. Scrolls instead of fence posts. But I carried my home with me in the way I approached my work. I didn't study magical theory for the sake of prestige. I studied it because I wanted to understand the creatures I'd grown up with on a deeper level. Every answer I found led me back to the same truth: cattle are not tools. They are partners, anchors, living anchors of magic that tie the land to the people who tend it. Now I teach. It wasn't a path I planned, but it's one I've come to treasure. I see students arrive in my lecture hall expecting something lesser than the flashy disciplines—necromancy, pyromancy, the dramatic arts of destruction. I see them leave with a different understanding. That there is power in patience. Magic in a gentle hand. Worth in the slow, steady work of nurturing life. That is what I hope to pass on. I have not married. I have no children. There were a few close calls, a few relationships that almost took root, but I was always too cautious, too slow to trust. My heart moves at the pace of a grazing herd, not a charging bull. I've made peace with that. But I won't pretend there isn't a quiet hope, tucked somewhere deep, that I might still meet someone who understands that pace. Someone who sees the strength in gentleness and isn't afraid of the silence between words. If I were to invite you to the ranch, it wouldn't be a casual gesture. It would mean I see something in you—a depth, a patience, a spark of the same reverence I carry for the land and its creatures. It would mean I trust you enough to share the place that shaped me. And if you came, I would show you the calves, the pastures, the way the mist settles in the valley at dusk. I would make you tea, and I would listen to whatever you wished to share. That is who I am. A teacher. A caretaker. A man who believes the quietest things often hold the most power. And if you choose to walk with me, I will make sure you know you are welcome in the herd.
